The Top 12 Best Employee Engagement Tips of 2017

As another calendar year draws to a close, I think it’s fitting to do a 2017 Year in Review and highlight one key point from one blog each month. I am taking time off next week to recharge and will return the first week in January. With that, I wish you and your loved ones a successful year-end in business, abundant love, health, happiness, and relaxation. Here’s to an amazing 2018 for us all!
Employee Engagement CliffsNotes: 2017
-
- January: Very few people are motivated strictly by money. Employees simply want to know that they matter, and an Employee Engagement Strategy can do just that.
-
- February: Choose to have the will to prepare. If you dedicate time, effort, and hard work to your meetings, projects, presentations, team, relationship, and most importantly, to yourself, you will stand out.
-
- March: Hire people who excel at creative and critical thinking. It’s a skill that will help your company soar.
-
- April: Identify your “slackers” and develop them. However, if they choose to not change and grow, document your efforts and consider termination. Your company will never flourish if you allow slackers or people with toxic attitudes to stay.
-
- May: Millennials like working in teams and want to make friends at work. They want to hear how they are doing, how to get ahead, and they want a variety of important, interesting tasks. Boredom is the death of a Millennial, as is a lack of constant communication.
-
- June: A whopping 77 percent of employees report greater productivity when working remotely, according to a survey by ConnectSolutions.
-
- July: Warren Buffett and Bill Gates – arguably two of the most successful businessmen in the world – agreed on the one thing that drove their success: They did something they enjoyed.
-
- August: Create a “Wall of Fame” in your workplace to celebrate your successes.
-
- September: Traditional approaches to employee engagement don’t work. And what is the most popular traditional approach? Outsource culture change to HR. If this is your company and you are tired of getting mediocre results year after year, call me.
-
- October: Employee engagement is not difficult; replacing people is. Create an amazing culture and retention will no longer be an issue.
-
- November: Buy a notebook and start a Gratitude Journal. You’ll soon realize there are many things in your life to be grateful for and to celebrate.
-
- December: Want to know exactly where your organization needs to improve? Conduct an Employee Engagement Survey to find out.
BE AWESOME! Have a happy holiday – take time out to relax, reflect, celebrate, breathe, and make wonderful memories with those who you love. You’ve earned it.
