This is a cut-throat culture – from Pingboard
I recently read an article on the Pingboard website, a company that provides employee directory software, about the toxic nature of cut-throat workplace cultures. In addition to creating a sea of unproductive, miserable employees who give no discretionary effort, cut-throat cultures are high-stress and cause employees to doubt their sanity.
How do you know if you are in one? Here are some common traits of this dysfunctional culture:Pingboard
- Co-workers, including your supervisor and senior leaders, throw you under the bus.
- All of your performance goals are individually based vs. team based.
- All the “good people” have been terminated or have quit.
- Your supervisor has a “what have you done for me lately” mindset: short-term focus and zero loyalty.
So, what are you to do if you work in a cut-throat culture and are surrounded my miserable employees? The truth? You have two viable options: leave the company or champion a movement to improve the culture.
If you choose the latter, you don’t have to go it alone.
